From his first appearance in a syndicated comic strip in 1946 to his latest published panels today, Ed Dodd’s MARK TRAIL has entertained and educated newspaper readers as to the dangers of environmental excess. It took a 47-year courtship, but the lanky woodsman married feisty Cherry Davis and helped her father Doc Davis turn Lost Forest into a thriving nature preserve. Mark Trail has pursued poachers, confronted illegal tree harvesters and exposed land swindlers. He has rescued his St. Bernard Andy from greedy dognappers and Andy has rescued him from dangerous waterfalls.

This book is a quintuple biography of the creator and four other artists. It looks at radio programs, magazine appearances, promotional contests, even affectionate parodies.

The author, Bernard A. Drew, has written more than 60 popular literature reference books and local Berkshire County, Massachusetts, histories. His earlier books for Bear Manor Media are The Legendary Tugboat Captain Annie Brennan of Puget Sound and Jingle of the Silver Spurs: The Hopalong Cassidy Radio Program 1950-1952.
