Steve Cochran (May 25, 1917 to June 15, 1965) was an American actor, producer and director in film, television, theatre and radio. After appearing in supporting roles in films in the 1940s he gained notoriety on stage in the Mae West show Diamond Lil. This led to a long-term contract with Warner Bros. for a series of films in the late 1940s and 1950s. The handsome Cochran played tough guys and villains with an eye for the ladies. His private life was equally colorful with several run-ins with the law. Tired of being typecast, he moved into producing and directing. While scouting locations for a new film, Cochran fell ill on his yacht at sea and died at the age of 48. This book is an account of Cochran’s career and life.
