Yep, this here's the first book on everyone's favorite rube, Judy Canova! Teeming with family interviews and rare, unpublished photos, this is the only book that'll ever need to be writ on music/stage/film/radio star, Judy Canova.

American comedienne, actress, singer, and radio personality, Judy began her show -business career with her family in Vaudeville and on tour across the USA. Judy sang, yodeled, and played guitar, often appearing as a wide-eyed, barefoot country bumpkin in braids and straw hat. Soon snapped up by bandleader Rudy Vallée’s radio show, The Fleischmann Hour (1931), the family catapulted to Broadway in the revue, Calling All Stars.

An offer from Warner Bros. led to several bit parts before Judy signed with Republic Pictures and appeared in more than two dozen films, including Scatterbrain (1940), Joan of Ozark (1942), and Lay That Rifle Down (1955).

She recorded dozens of popular songs for RCA Victor label, and her radio program, The Judy Canova Show, ran for twelve years, featuring the world’s finest voice actors, such as Mel Blanc, Gale Gordon, Sheldon Leonard, Gerald Mohr, and Hans Conried.

After four husbands and two stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, the Canova legacy finally reaches harvest time with Ben Ohmart’s extensive research through exclusive material from a treasure trove of Canova family scrapbooks, photos, and memorabilia.
