An Erotic Journey Through Time
Towards the end of 2009, producer Alain Siritzky reached out to a long-time collaborator, Rolfe Kanefsky to write and direct a new and, what would become, the final official series of Emmanuelle movies that began in the 1970s. It took almost three years to complete this soft-core sci-fi comedy series of seven 90 minute feature films. With the demise of the late-night erotic genre in 2012 and the passing of Alain Siritzky, “Emmanuelle Through Time” was indeed the conclusion of an era and the end of a relationship between Kanefsky and Siritzky that began in 1996 with movies based on Milo Manara’s “Click” and “Butterscotch” graphic novels.
With the world changing and technology advancing with features like “Avatar”, Siritzky wanted this series to break new ground. His concept was Emmanuelle and her crew are flying around the world in a futuristic blimp broadcasting the “Emmanuelle Channel” and get selected to participate in a government experiment that allows the blimp to travel through wormholes to other dimensions with alternate realities triggered by the power of orgasms. It was an incredibly ambitious series to say the least.
Kanefsky had thought he had finished making these kind of erotic movies but due to the current recession, agreed to write and direct this show. While trying to give Siritzky the kind of show he wanted and trying to make something that Kanefsky himself could also be proud of, the scripts were mostly written over the Christmas holidays in 2009. Upon giving Siritzky five finished scripts a month later, there was a problem. Siritzky thought the religious aspects of the first script and the depressing nature of the third script were not the direction he wanted the series to take. After a serious butting of heads, Kanefsky rewrote most of the first and third scripts to please his producer. Eventually all seven movies were produced over a period of 57 days.
This book contains the first three screenplays that became the first three movies of “Emmanuelle In Time”. It also contains Kanefsky’s original two scripts that were rejected. With all five scripts included here, readers will finally get to see what was and what could have been. When the series was completed five of the seven films premiered on HBO/Cinemax. The finished third and sixth movie never aired for various unknown reasons. To this day “Movie 3- “Sex, Chocolate, & Emmanuelle” is often sought after and for the first time, the original script for “Movie 3” entitled “Chemical Attraction” can be read.
